I can't say enough about how much I appreciate Sara Alexi's books. I was disappointed when I realized this book wasn't a Greece story, but I continued reading and couldn't put it down. What a journey and what an ending! I've tried to read all of her books and especially appreciate that being able to "read" them using text to speech kept me entertained while I recovered,after 2 eye surgeries.
Sara Alexi has written another story about human frailty and redemption. Follow Neil on the piano raft through the boat canals of England as he meets many exceptional people ( We've already met one of the!) whom I hope we'll see in future books. I didn't know that the canals existed. I enjoyed going on the trip, seeing the countryside and meeting the people along the way. I'm sure you will too!
What a lovely book. It is the story of a young man insecure in life, who lets his girlfriend leave, then after a drunken night with his old mate sets out to try and find her in the most unusual way. His journey takes him and us along the canals of England and along the way he meets people from all walks of life. One of these friends is already known to those who have read previous books from Sara and between them they help him find his way in life. So come on the journey with Neil and let Sara take you along the twisting, winding waterways, take in the beautiful countryside and enjoy the ride.
I really enjoyed this book, although it was quite different to Sara's Greek stories. I learned a lot about England's canals, it was really interesting. Sara writes so well, I felt like I was right there with Neil and the kitty and dog. ( Although I would have bought a couple of bags of food for them....they were only fed 3 times throughout that trip! LOL!) The story line was very clever and I had a hard time putting the book down....and now I have finished her whole series of books and I'm suffering from Sara Alexi withdrawal
Sara never disappoints. Her tales draw you in and tie you to the lives of the characters in each book. The Piano Raft is no different. It is a story of a young man's journey to find everything he wants out of life, all the people along the way who help him to see outside himself, learn what he hopes to accomplish, as well as who he wants to have along with him in this timeless voyage. I highly recommend this book.
This new book by Sara Alexi was a step away from her usual line of writing. Having read all of her books and usually just hanging out for the new release to be published, I though I wasn't going to be as excited moving away from all the characters Sara's readers have got to know and love.
I was enthralled from start to finish . I really felt I had a lovely holiday just floating through the canals to London meeting happy interesting people from all walks of life. I find it difficult to write reviews so my only advise is JUST READ IT and all of the other books Sara has written. This one is stand alone and special. Thanks again for another wonderful book to read!
If I could do it, I would. What an eye-opening journey.....from start to finish. The maturing of Neil and Sleet is thought provoking, the people you meet along the way are fascinating and the descriptions of our beautifully created world so lovely. I want to meet Cecil, Burney and Pat and... the list could go on and on. This book is absolutely the BEST of all. Great work, Sara. How will you ever top this??
